PROTEIN CHEESE BUNS
We all know cheesy bread is so good, but a high protein cheesy bread is the best. This is a super easy recipe mixing flour and Greek yogurt to make the dough, then stuffing it with creamy Boursin cheese. The Greek yogurt boosts the protein in these buns, which makes them a good alternative to a regular bun if you’re looking to add more protein to your diet. I made them small to give them the perfect cheese to bread ratio, therefore making the perfect bite… also you can have more than one.
PROTEIN CHEESE BUNS
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 cup Greek yogurt
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 conatiner Boursin minis
- everything but the bagel spice optional
- olive oil optional
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350℉.
- In a bowl, mix the flour, salt, and baking powder.
- Add the yogurt and mix into a dough. If it is not coming together, add 1 tbsp of water as a time until you have a ball of dough and the bowl is clean. I needed 2 tbsp, but this depends on the flour and yogurt you are using.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Scoop a golf size ball of dough and flatten with your hands. Add 2 Boursin mins in the middle. Fold the sides in towards the middle to cover the the cheese and make a ball. Place on the baking sheet, with folded part down.
- Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with the everything bagel spice.
- Bake for 40 mins.
Notes
I used the minis because it was the perfect measurement, but you can use regular Boursin or any soft cheese. Use about a teaspoon per bun.

I liked sprinkling the everything but the bagel spice on the buns. This is optional, you could also just do sesame seeds or garlic powder, or leave it plain.

These are good served warm, but also fine at room temperature. They can also be zapped in the microwave for a few seconds to warm them up.
I keep them in the fridge in a airtight container as they have cheese in them.
