CHOCOLATE ALMOND TORTE
You can’t go wrong with almonds and chocolate. What makes this cake different is a chocolate base with layers of almond flavour coming from almond flour, sliced almonds, almond extract, and almond oil instead of butter.
This cake is soft with a crunchy top and a soft chewy centre. Defiantly a crowd pleaser.
CHOCOLATE ALMOND TORTE
Equipment
- 1 springform pan
Ingredients
- 7 ounces milk chocolate
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup almond oil
- 5 eggs separated
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¾ cup sugar
- 1½ cup almond flour
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp espresso powder
- ¼ tsp almond extract
- ¼ cup sliced almonds
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350℉
- In a large bowl, melt the chocolate in the microwave in 30 seconds increments stirring each time until melted.
- Add the almond oil.
- Add egg yolks. Whisk in to incorporate.
- Add cocoa powder, almond flour, sugar, espresso powder, vanilla, and almond extract.
- In a separate bowl, beat egg whites with salt. Once it has doubled in volume, fold into chocolate mixture.
- Spray springform pan with cooking spray and pour in mixture.
- Bake for 40 minutes.
- Let cool completely before removing from pan.
