WALNUT FLAX HEARTS

WALNUT FLAX HEARTS

These make for a great snack. With lots of walnuts and sprouted flax they are also super nutritious. I like to make a big batch of them and store them in the freezer, then I can pop them in my mouth whenever I want.

WALNUT FLAX HEARTS

Course Snack
Servings 22 hearts

Equipment

  • silicon ice cube trays
  • food processor

Ingredients

  • 10 medjool dates pitted
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • ½ cup sprouted flax seeds
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla beans
  • ¼ tsp sea salt

Instructions

  • Put walnuts into a food processor and blitz them to break them up.
  • Add into the processor the dates, sprouted flax, salt, vanilla beans, and cinnamon. Blitz until it's a smooth paste.
  • Fill a silicon tray with the mixture. If you're not using a silicon tray, roll into balls the size of ping pong balls.
  • Put on a plate and refrigerate to set for an hour.

Notes

These can be kept in the fridge in an airtight container.
Alternatively, they can be frozen as well.
I like to use silicon trays in fund shapes like hearts. Any silicon tray can be used. Don’t use plastic ice cube trays as you won’t be able to get them out.
And if you don’t want to use trays at all, just roll them into balls.
